Panathinaikos OPAP is soon expected to part ways with Greek coach, George Vovoras according to several reports coming from Greece. Panathinaikos is going through one of the most challenging seasons in their history standing on the 16th place (out of 18 teams) in the Euroleague after 17 rounds.

Panathinaikos’ loss to Lavrio Megabolt for the Greek Basket league seemed to be the last game for coach Vovoras on Panathinaikos’ bench, with an official press release coming from the club soon. Coach Vovoras was appointed head coach of the club for the 2020-21 season and he has been a member of Panathinaikos’ coaching staff since 2016, as an assistant coach. He has previously worked with Rick Pitino, Argyris Pedoulakis and Xavi Pascual.

The Greek club is now in the market looking for Vovoras’ successor with coach Dimitrios Priftis of UNIKS Kazan and Sotiris Manolopoulos being the main candidates, per Eurohoops.
