Liga Endesa round up (week 3)

Some close games in week three of the Liga Endesa. Real Madrid were in a battle against Joventut Badalona and Andorra claimed their first win of the new campaign also.

Real Madrid were on the edge of a home loss, but thanks to the clutch play of KC Rivers, plus a bucket with 4 seconds left from Felipe Reyes, they beat Joventut Badalona 90-88.

Gustavo Ayon led Real Madrid with 18 points, but the giants were pushed all the way by the Catalan club, who led by 12 at one stage in the fourth quarter but couldn’t hang on for the upset win.

Andorra had David Navarro to thank as they claimed the scalp of Laboral Kutxa, beating them 87-85.

Navarro’s pull-up jumper with 4.1 seconds left was enough, as Labroal Kutxa were unable to get a shot off in time, sparking wild celebrations.

There were three Andorrans who led the winners – as Thomas Schreiner, Georgios Bogris and Kaloyan Ivanov all had 14 points.

Barcelona were always comfortable as they beat Gran Canaria 80-61 in Catalonia. Justin Doellman led the Catalan giants with 14 points in a routine victory.

Valencia secured an impressive 77-69 road win over Zaragoza, thanks to 17 points from Luke Harangody.

Unicaja Malaga were made to work for their 81-65 victory over a hard-working Bruixa d’Or side, who are still searching for their first win.

Fran Vazquez led the victors with 18 points as he shot 70 percent from the field, which aided the win.

There were also wins over the weekend for Bilbao, who inflicted a first defeat of the season to Murcia 82-74. Before Real Madrid took to the floor, the Barclaycard Center saw Tenerife beat Estudiantes 79-66.

Fuenlabrada scored a solid 71-68 success over Seville on the road, and there was also a win for Rio Natura, as they ousted winless Gipuzkoa 85-69.
