Charlotte Hornets starting center Cody Zeller fractured his left hand in a 114-121 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the team announced.

Zeller suffered the injury in the second half after defending a shot by Cavaliers center Andre Drummond and fighting for the rebound.

It’s still too soon to tell how much time Zeller will miss, a source told Adrian Wojnarowski.

Zeller, 28, recorded six points, three rebounds, three steals and one block in 19 minutes of action before leaving the game.

Bismack Biyombo, who finished with 11 points and four rebounds in the loss, is expected to replace Zeller in the starting lineup.

The Hornets are one of the few NBA teams with an open roster spot still available, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.

The team may choose to use that open roster spot to sign a veteran big man or use small-ball lineups with P.J. Washington at center.
