Washington Wizards forward Rui Hachimura will miss approximately three weeks with conjunctivitis, the team announced.

Hachimura was diagnosed with bi-lateral epidemic keratoconjunctivitis (EKC) on Dec. 16 and missed the Wizards’ final two preseason games.

The 22-year-old has a severe case of pink eye with blurred vision and he is sensitive to light, according to head coach Scott Brooks.

Hachimura was expected to be the team’s starting power forward.

The Wizards could choose to start Davis Bertans in that spot, but Brooks prefers him coming off the bench in a sixth man role.

They could also choose to play with smaller lineups and start Troy Brown Jr. and rookie Deni Avdija.

Anthony Gill is another option to start as a bigger forward, as he started in the team’s final preseason game.
