Daily Gossip, Wednesday 8/10/14

Of course Alba Berlin’s shock 94-93 win over the defending NBA champions San Antonio Spurs has stolen the headlines here. But there are some bits to get through. Chris Bosh and LeBron spring to mind.

BOSH HASN’T SPOKEN TO LEBRON SINCE THE MOVE

While Dwayne Wade and LeBron James’ friendship goes beyond basketball, it seems that there wasn’t much of a bond between Chris Bosh and LeBron – outside of basketball, that is.

Bosh told reporters recently that he hasn’t spoken to James since his move back home to Cleveland. Well, why should he, right?

Via ESPN:

Asked by reporters if he had talked to his former teammate since James’ decision to leave the Heat, Bosh answered a succinct, “No.” […] As to whether he was looking forward to seeing James on Saturday at the game in Rio de Janeiro, he replied with a lukewarm, “Yeah … I don’t know.”

“I’m in the mode where I’m trying to lead my team, help these guys out around here,” he said. “If guys aren’t in this locker room, I don’t have much time for them — if any.”

“Everybody’s going to hype it up, and it’s going to be a big deal,” Bosh said. “But for us, it’s just another opportunity to get better. We know everything that’s surrounding the situation, and it is what it is. As far as we’re concerned, this is our team, this is what we’re trying to build toward, the past is the past, we’re moving on, and it’s good to get this out of the way.”

Out of all the games played overseas in this year’s edition of the NBA Global Games; it seems that Brazil has come out as winners.

SWAGGY P OFFENDED THAT HE IS RANKED 150 BY ESPN

Nick Young is an entertainer. He’s a good player, there’s no doubting that, but you try telling him that he’s not a superstar. Oh he is – if you don’t believe him, just ask him.

ESPN’s annual pre-season player rankings have the Los Angeles Laker at 150. Swaggy P wasn’t too happy about that.

FOUR WIZARDS SUSPENDED DURING PRE-SEASON ALTERCATION

IT’S ONLY THE PRE-SEASON.

Yet fines are handed out and suspensions are being used. Games between Washington and Chicago will be interesting this season.

Via the NBA:

Wizards’ players DeJuan Blair, Nene, Daniel Orton and Xavier Silas were suspended one game for leaving the bench area during an altercation between Chicago Bulls’ center Joakim Noah and Washington Wizards’ forward Paul Pierce.

Additionally, Noah has been fined $15,000 for initiating an altercation with Pierce by pushing him in the chest and Pierce has been fined $15,000 for hitting Noah in the forehead with his left index finger, it was announced today by Rod Thorn, President, Basketball Operations. The incident occurred with 8:57 remaining in the first quarter of the Wizards’ 85-81 win over the Bulls on Monday, October 6, at United Center. The suspensions will be served during the first regular season game for which each player is eligible and physically able to play.
