Tripkovic retires at 28

Serbian guard Uros Tripkovic has decided to retire at the age of 28, revealing all in an interview with the Telegraf,

Countless injury problems, with many of them requiring surgery has forced Tripkovic to call it a day. He last played in Italy for Vanoli Cremona in Serie A. He led the team to 14th in the table.

“I have two kids and my health is the the most important thing,” said Tripkovic. “I decided to end my professional career. It would be too risky to be back.”

Tripkovic began his career at Partizan in 2002, where he won three Serbian league titles as well as three Adriatic titles before moving to the ACB in 2009 to join Joventut Badalona.

He would spend three years in Spain, playing for Unicaja Malaga and Valladolid before joining Fenerbahce in 2012. Tripkovic helped Fenerbahce to the Turkish Cup in 2013 before ending his career in Italy.

He represented Serbia at the 2009 Eurobasket in Poland where he guided them to an unexpected silver medal. They lost to Spain in the gold medal game.
