Giannis Antetokounmpo wanted the Milwaukee Bucks to target Bradley Beal in the offseason, says Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

Antetokounmpo believed Beal was the ideal player that could upgrade the Bucks’ backcourt.

“In addition to Bogdanovic, he [Antetokounmpo] cited Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal as a desirable target for the Bucks. Without impugning specific teammates, Antetokounmpo was implicitly suggesting what just about everyone in the organization — and the NBA — knew: The Bucks needed to upgrade their backcourt,” ESPN’s Brian Windhorst and Kevin Arnovitz report.

The Bucks failed to sign both Bogdanovic and Beal. Instead, they acquired Jrue Holiday, via a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans.

Meanwhile, Antetokounmpo agreed to a five-year, supermax contract extension with the Bucks, worth $228.2M.
