The Washington Wizards fell short in their first preseason game, but rookie Deni Avdija was nothing less than impressive in his first NBA game.

The Israeli forward finished the contest against the Brooklyn Nets with 15 points in 24 minutes of action. He was perfect from the field shooting 6-6 and 3-3 from the three-point range.

The promising forward also added four rebounds and two assists. Avdija, the 9th overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, came in the NBA from EuroLeague powerhouse Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Avdija showcased his ball-handling and ability to run in the open court, despite being at 6-foot-9. He also showed his impeccable shooting touch, which can transform him into a star-caliber player.

The Wizards opened the 2020-21 preseason with their first of three exhibition games missing their three best players and other key guys on top of that.

In particular, Russel Westbrook, Bradley Beal, and Davis Bertans all sat due to rest. Furthermore, Ish Smith and Jerome Robinson were out with minor injuries.
