It was a tough weekend for some of the NBA rookies on the offensive end, as they struggled to find the basket at the higher level.

It has been highlighted by LaMelo Ball in his Charlotte Hornets debut last night, putting up 0 points and shooting 0 for 5 from the field. However, his flashy passes and 10 rebounds made up somewhat for his poor offensive show.

The Illawarra Hawks and Chino Hills product has many high expectations placed on him ahead of his rookie season, with many saying he is the front runner for the Rookie of the Year award. Ball was the third overall pick in the NBA Draft last month.

On Friday night, former UNC star Cole Anthony also struggled to get things going. Anthony was selected with the number 15 pick in the NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic last month.

Anthony scored seven points, shooting 3 for 10 from the field, in 20 minutes on the court.

Fellow Magic rookie Chuma Okeke found his groove in the fourth quarter, finishing with nine points. Okeke was selected by the Magic in the 2019 NBA draft but an ACL injury left him out for the whole season.

The Magic went on to beat the Atlanta Hawks 116-112 and play against them again tonight.

Finally, number 1 pick Anthony Edwards struggled in his Minnesota Timberwolves debut last night. The guard finished with five points and shot 22% from the field.

In addition to this, he pulled in four boards and dished out one assist in 26 minutes of play.

The former Georgia Bulldog will look to get going against the Grizzlies again tomorrow evening.
