The 30-year-old Paul George signed a super-max extension with the Clippers (worth up to $226 million over the next five seasons), and Fox Sports Radio host Doug Gottlieb is incredulous but unsurprised.

It seems to be an issue with the entire NBA that has clubs giving huge contracts to players who haven’t earned them.

In his opinion, it makes no sense to give the second-best player on an underachieving team such a huge contract, but the NBA seems to have no inhibitions when it comes to contracts.

This George agreement is the third-largest contract in NBA history. Previously James Harden had signed $228 million over six-year, and Damian Lillard also had a six-year deal worth $257 million.
