The EuroLeague season is well underway and we already see a few teams escaping from the pack.

Barcelona is an impressive 8-1 to open the season and sits first in the league. Meanwhile, FC Bayern Munich and CSKA Moscow are sitting pretty at 7-3.

Routinely one of the best teams in Spain, Barcelona is attempting to reach the holy grail of the EuroLeague once again. With two titles to their name (and last coming in 2010), FC Barcelona fans are longing for another championship.

Off to a hot start, one of the main reasons Barcelona is doing so well in the early going is their newest signings and their ability to extend talented players. The EuroLeague is savage in the fact that players will look for greener pastures elsewhere, much like the NBA and other professional leagues. So for teams to lock up tenured players as well as bring in new talent is a huge bonus.

Nick Calathes signed a three-year deal with Barcelona. Fans of the EuroLeague are well versed in his talents. Calathes was named twice to the All-EuroLeague First Team in back-to-back seasons and has made an impressive impact with former teams like Panathinaikos. Calathes was also a former NBA Draft pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves and played at the University of Florida. Calathes has also led the EuroLeague in assists in each of the last three seasons, while also ranking second all-time in that category.

Another name well known for Barcelona that jumped ship is Brandon Davies. In his young EuroLeague career, Davies extended his current contract with the team that will keep him donning the FC Barcelona crest until 2022. Davies played for BYU in college, while also playing for the 76ers and Nets in the NBA. Davies signed a two year deal with Barcelona in 2019 and has since re-upped his agreement with the organization.

The basketball world is buzzing thanks to Leandro Bolmaro. The Argentinian began his pro career at the age of 16, signing in the top basketball league in Argentina. He has spent time between Barcelona’s reserve team and their senior team but is making an impact every time he touches the court. Bolmaro was drafted by the New York Knicks in the 2020 NBA Draft and has since been traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

FC Barcelona has many talents that have proven themselves in either European in American Basketball, like Cory Higgins, Kyle Kuric, Pierre Oriola, and Nikola Mirotic.

It isn’t a surprise that basketball betting sites have Barcelona as one of the favorites to win the EuroLeague. Barcelona can be found at 3.50 odds to win EuroLeague and are favorites across many betting sites.

FC Barcelona is attempting to be the face of the EuroLeague once again. With their recent signings and ability to pen experienced names to new contracts, Barcelona will be a tough mountain to concur for the majority of teams in the EuroLeague.
