Pascal Siakam reflected on his struggles during the 2019/2020 season restart in Orlando, Florida. The All-Star forward admitted he wasn’t “mentally there” and his poor production was difficult to watch during the offseason.

“I didn’t recognize myself in terms of having fun,” Siakam said Thursday, per The Athletic’s Blake Murphy. “I love this game and I don’t ever want to be able to play the game without joy.”

Siakam had a poor “bubble” run with the Toronto Raptors. He put up 16.9 points during 18 contests while shooting 39.5%, including a horrendous 26.5% clip from 3-point range.

The 26-year-old forward admitted he was not ready mentally to play basketball, as ‘there was a lot to deal with’ during that time.

“The world is crazy right now.” Says there was a lot to deal with, and he didn’t feel like he was where he wanted to be physically or mentally. “It goes so fast,” Siakam said, according to Blake Murphy.
