Several teams could pursue Kyle Lowry, if he becomes available, per NBA analyst

The Toronto Raptors could become a retooling team this season, after Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol left the franchise for the Clippers and the Lakers, respectively.

The Raptors also involved in the race for Giannis Antetokounmpo, as the back-to-back MVP might be available in the free agent market next season.

In that case, Toronto will need to clear enough cap space to accommodate the contract for Antetokounmpo, who is available for a supermax extension.

With that in mind, John Hollinger of the Athletic believes that Kyle Lowry could be moved in order for the Raptors to create space in their cap.

(via clutchpoints.com):

“Imagine, for instance, a deal with Brooklyn that swapped Lowry for Spencer Dinwiddie and Jarrett Allen (see below). Or Denver for Gary Harris, Will Barton and picks. Or similar-type deals with the Sixers or Heat. (The Lakers, Bucks and Clippers, sadly, probably can’t get in on this with the hard cap and Lowry’s $30 million number).”

Lowry’s $30M contract is set to expire next season, while the Raptors re-signed Fred VanVleet during this offseason. The Raptors maybe are willing to retool the roster with Pascal Siakam being also tied with a long-term deal.

Despite Kyle Lowry having a great value as a player and veteran in the team, Ujiri might be in crossroads next offseason, if he decides to go all-in and pursue Giannis.
