Where Champions Play

Madrid, September 18 Connor Sports has expressed its thanks to the global basketball family and host nation Spain after a memorable 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup concluded on Sunday.

Team USA lifted the trophy after defeating Serbia in the final of the tournament, with all 24 teams having performed over two weeks on specially-designed courts that were created by Connor Sports.

The flooring provider, which is an Official Technical Supplier to basketball’s global governing body FIBA, designed custom-made temporary courts for all six of the host cities – Barcelona, Bilbao, Granada, Gran Canaria, Madrid and Seville.

The courts carried the name of the particular host city in large lettering and a unique colour scheme.

“We feel privileged that the best basketball players in the world stepped out on our courts for such a prestigious tournament,” Connor Sports CEO Ron Cerny said.

“We would like to congratulate Team USA, FIBA and also Spain for being such a welcoming host nation. However, we hope that every team and association that participated as well as the thousands of fans who travelled to Spain have left with fond memories.”

The temporary QuickLock wooden courts were installed within existing venues for the duration of the tournament and can now be dismantled and relocated.

Connor Sports, which is part of Connor Sports Court International, has been a FIBA Equipment and Venue Centre Partner since 1994 and is the Official Technical Supplier of FIBA from 2013 to 2016.
