The Los Angeles Lakers have made some impressive moves in free agency and are close to complete their roster for the 2020/21 season.
The Lakers added Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell and Marc Gasol to the roster, while they re-signed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Markieff Morris.
As Anthony Davis is expected to sign his new contract in the coming days, the Lakers have 12 guaranteed contracts for next season.
They also have two two-way contracts (Devontae Cacok, Kostas Antetokounmpo) and three players (Tres Tinkle, Zavier Simpson, Kevon Harris) with Exhibit 10 deals that will join the training camp.
Therefore, the Lakers have 17 players on their active roster and can bring as many as 20 in their camp, per Harrison Faigen of Silver Screen and Roll.
Prior to the start of the regular season, this number should be reduced to a maximum of 15 players.
That said, the Lakers are expected to pursue reliable big men that will be Marc Gasol’s backup. With JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard leaving the team, the Lakers have a void at center.
GM Rob Pelinka wants to bring in one or two veteran centers in order to avoid having Davis play as center.
The Lakers will officially start their training camp this Tuesday, December 1st, while the regular season will tip off on December 22.
