Lakers Free Agency: Marc Gasol signs with Lakers after JaVale McGee trade to Cavaliers

The Los Angeles Lakers have signed Marc Gasol to a two-year deal for the veteran’s minimum. Gasol is choosing to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent after considering re-signing with the Toronto Raptors.

Big Spain is the Lakers’ fourth free agent signing after adding Wesley Matthews, Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and now Marc Gasol In a move that led to this signing, the Los Angeles Lakers are trading away JaVale McGee.

McGee is being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Jordan Bell and Alfonzo McKinnie. The Los Angeles Lakers will waive Alfonzo McKinnie and Jordan Bell to make room for Marc Gasol.

In 44 games with the Toronto Raptors last season, Gasol, who was originally drafted by the Lakers back in 2007, averaged 7.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.

Meanwhile, McGee was a fine piece off the bench for the 2019-20 NBA Champions, averaging 6.6 points and 5.7 rebounds in 69 games.
