The Memphis Grizzlies were indicating that De’Anthony Melton is a big part of their future all-season, after a successful 2019/2020 campaign.

Though it seemed Melton could earn interest from a few other teams, the Grizzlies quickly put the speculation to rest as they re-signed the defensive-minded guard to a four-year, $35M contract, per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Melton was averaging 7.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest during the last season, complimenting Ja Morant’s perimeter presence.

The USC product has already showed he is a valuable piece on defense. Though his offensive game is certainly a work in progress, he still can improve being just 22 years old.

Melton could certainly address those issues on offense and become a valuable two-way player for the Grizzlies in the near future.
