Korisliiga to stream league games throughout season

Finland’s premier basketball league, Korisliiga has announced that it will be streaming every league and playoff game on KorisligaTV.

The new online service will be run on a white label platform, developed by Finnish startup Jenkatehdas Oy who already run major streaming sites across Finland.

“We are excited to be working on a service that’s really setting an example for others,” comments Jenkatehdas CEO Antti Eronen. “The fact that Korisliiga is producing all the broadcasts themselves is quite unique.

“It offers the teams a real new revenue stream and the fans unprecedented coverage of the sport. Not many leagues are achieving streaming on this scale yet.”

The games are filmed with an automated camera solution (supplied by another company) that also creates highlight clips of the games to be delivered through Korisliiga’s social media channels on game nights. Some games have live commentary and all will feature the game clock, shot clock and scores as graphics.

“This service brings our main league once and for all to the digital age as the fans can now enjoy games also at home or on the go,” says Tom Westerholm, head of competition at the Finnish Basketball Association.

The pricing of the streams is yet to be confirmed but will feature a full season package and a subscription for following all of your favorite team’s games (home and away). In addition to that you can buy any single game as a pay-per-view. First games will be streamed on October 24.
