Anthony Davis has officially declined his player option with the Los Angeles Lakers and opts out of his contract.
As Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports, Davis turned down his player option, worth $28.7M, and will become an unrestricted free agent.
Davis is expected to agree to a new, lucrative deal with the Lakers once free agency opens next Friday, November 20.
Davis helped the Lakers win the 2020 NBA title, averaging 26.1 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.
