Cameron Jones pens deal with Zenit Saint Petersburg


Zenit Saint Petersburg added American guard Cameron Jones for the upcoming season. The player moves from Santa Cruz Warriors. In 56 games he recorded very impressive stats: 20.2ppg, 4.4rpg, 3.5apg and 1.3spg last season. He helped them to make it to the final after they ended regular season as second best team.

Three years ago Jones was drafted by Fort Wayne Mad Ants (D-League) in first round. Jones won D-League East Conference championship title in 2013. He was also voted USBasket.com All-D-League Most Improved Player of the Year in 2013.

Earlier Zenit Saint Petersburg added Andrei Koscheev. He played previous season at Spartak St.Petersburg (VTB). In 8 Eurocup games he recorded 8.5ppg and 4.1rpg. In season 2012/2013 Koscheev played at BC Ryazan (Superleague). In 13 games he averaged 4.5ppg and 2.9rpg that season.

Zenit St Petersburg is a new name of Triumph Lyubertsy after moving to the second largest city in the Russian Federation before the start of the 2014-15 season. Zenit will be Triumph’s legal successor, keeping the right to play in the 2014-15 Eurocup season. It has also been announced that Zenit will play in the 7,100-seat Sibur Arena.
