Former NBA superstar Chris Bosh has revealed the late Kobe Bryant told him he would win an Oscar months before it happened. Bryant, a five-time NBA champion who spent his entire career with the Los Angeles Lakers, became the first African-American to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, as well as the first former athlete to win an Academy Award, back in 2018 for his short film Dear Basketball.

Bosh, who won his two rings the Miami Heat, has since ventured into the music industry as a producer and an artist. Bosh’s first song, “I want it All” featuring Deezie Brown, was inspired by Kobe and contains audio of the Black Mamba getting drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in 1996.

The ex-NBA big man joined The Real to discuss his new endeavors and was asked for a favorite memory of Kobe.

“I would say the best one was when he told me he was going to win an Oscar,” he said. “He told me months before the Oscars even come on. He was telling me his ambitions. Not so much that it was a dream, but he was telling me. Kobe is a very precise person, he’s going to tell you exactly how he’s going to do it. And more importantly, we were talking about post-retirement things, what we were going to do outside of the game of basketball. He had miles and miles on anybody before he passed.”

Bosh is hoping to make a successful transition from basketball to the entertainment industry, much like Kobe was able to do. His new track isn’t a bad listen, you could check it out here.
