Larry Nance Jr. opened up about his decision to spend more time on understanding the political situation in the United States.

The forward/center of the Cleveland Cavaliers said he was upset about the current social climate and wanted to help force change.

“I just kind of didn’t realize that it was that important, you know? I’m like well, the president is just kind of somebody that’s just going to sit up there and, you know, kind of be a figurehead…I just didn’t know any better.

And, you know, now after seeing everything that’s going on and learning like, how do we actually invoke this change we want to see. And, you know, that answer being that answer being the polls like, well, hey, look, I’m pretty upset about how George Floyd died. I’m pretty upset about how Breonna Taylor was treated.

I’m pretty upset about all this stuff that’s going on. I’m pretty upset about how we’re handling COVID, so, you know, instead of sitting here being upset about it, I should make my voice–you know, I can’t be upset if I don’t use my right to vote.

Like I have no right to be sitting here mad and angry about what’s going on in our country, if I didn’t, you know, use my voice to try to change it. And so, I think that’s what guys are really starting to realize.

And, you know, I don’t know the exact number, but it’s going to be way higher than twenty two percent this year,” Nance Jr. told Mary Harris of Slate.

Nance Jr. and the majority of the NBA players have been in favor of Joe Biden, who is having the upper hand at the moment in the battle against Donald Trump.
