The Golden State Warriors are planning ahead of the 2020 NBA Draft, which will take place on November 18 with all the options being open for them.
While many pundits believe the Warriors are in need of a center, the organization seems to have other plans in place ahead of the Draft, per Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle.
In particular, they seem to not be that high on James Wiseman, who is the highest-rated big in the projected NBA lottery, per Letourneau.
“The Warriors, owners of the No. 2 pick, are still figuring out where to put James Wiseman on their big board, according to multiple league sources. His limited playmaking ability and shooting range could make him an odd fit in a system that asks its center to be an offensive fulcrum.
“But after watching Wiseman work out in Miami last week, a league source who was present told The Chronicle, ‘He really is gifted physically. Is he worth the second pick? I’m not sure.’”
Wiseman’s appearances in NCAA were limited to just three games due to eligibility issues, after receiving money from head coach Penny Hardaway.
He averaged 19.7 points and 10.7 rebounds in his three appearances with Memphis.
