The NBA Draft is just two weeks away and RJ Hampton drew an interesting comparison ahead of November 18.

The Dallas native joined Michael Scotto of HoopsHype in the latest episode of the HoopsHype podcast to talk his long-term goal, playing overseas, the advice he receives from current and former NBA players and his friendship with projected Top-3 pick LaMelo Ball.

He also referred to the player he models his game after and his favorite NBA player.

(via HoopsHype):

“I think the person I’ve watched the most probably over the past two or three years would be Zach LaVine because I think we’re both 6-foot-5 or 6-foot-6 guards that are athletic, can get downhill, can create for our teammates, and we’re fast. That’s definitely somebody that I kind of try to model my game after now. Then, long-term, I’d say, maybe not long-term, but one of my favorite players is Derrick Rose. If I could be like him one day that would be worth my while.”

The Draft is going to take place on Nov. 18. Hampton is projected as a lottery pick on several mock drafts, while there are many rumors on which team is interested in selecting the promising guard.

The explosive combo guard bypassed the NCAA to play professionally in the NBL with the New Zealand Breakers. He averaged 8.8 points on 41 percent shooting in 20 minutes a night at NBL.
