Kristaps Porzingis sustained a meniscus tear in the first round of the 2020 NBA playoffs vs. the Los Angeles Clippers.

As a result, the Dallas Mavericks were not able to get past the Clippers losing the series in six games, with Porzingis playing in three of them.

According to Dalton Trigg of Sports Illustrated, the Mavs’ big could be able to return to action in January, as Dr. Rajpal Brar, DPT, who is a medical expert on that type of injuries, claims.

“Typically, for high-level elite athletes who undergo a lateral meniscus repair, the average return timeline is about three-to-four months,” says Dr. Brar. “So, assuming the NBA starts in mid-January, that would have KP back for the start of the season or early on in the season.”

Dallas did not give an official date of return for Porzingis, who finished with averages of 20.4 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 2.0 blocks while playing nearly 32 minutes in the regular season.
