Meyers Leonard hopes to land a steady role as a contender in the upcoming free agency

Miami Heat’s big Meyers Leonard is entering free agency with the hope of receiving interest from a playoff team or title contender. The versatile big man talked to Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel about his expectations ahead of the upcoming offseason.

(via NBC Sports):

“Now, it’s not even about the money or the one year for me,” Leonard said. “I know going into free agency, what I want is to compete in the playoffs and to compete for a championship, and I want to have a significant impact.

“Whether it’s starting or coming off the bench, I’m thinking 20 to 25 minutes. I feel that I’ve shown people, no question about it, that I can be impactful on both sides of the ball every single night, and that I certainly do bring value.”

Leonard certainly has a place in today’s NBA with his ability to make shots from deep on a 41% clip. He is also great at infusing energy to his team, on and off the floor.

NBA teams are looking for players, who can stretch the floor, in the back-up center position, with several contenders and playoff teams having interest in adding a player like Leonard.
