Zalgiris Kaunas returned from a double-digit deficit and won (74-83) ASVEL in an outstanding night for Marius Grigonis.

With a career-high 25 points, Marius Grigonis led Zalgiris Kaunas to its fifth victory in six rounds of the EuroLeague. Both Marius Grigonis‘ points and PIR of 27 were personal best for the 26-year-old Lithuanian guard.

The home team, despite missing five players, was leading from the beginning of the match. ASVEL didn’t look like the team that skipped three rounds due to COVID-19 cases and allowed the visitors to score for the first time after three minutes of the game.

Zalgiris never gave up, they slowly came back from 10 and more points deficit, and, in the fourth quarter, they totally took control and finally celebrated. Also, the Lithuanian team was perfect from the free-throw line (18/18).

As mentioned before, Marius Grigonis led Zalgiris with 25 points. Lukas Lekavicius added 13 and Thomas Walkup 11 (seven rebounds and seven assists for a PIR of 26).

Charles Kahudi was the best scorer for ASVEL. He ended the match with 18 points. Guerschon Yabusele scored one point less (17), David Lighty stopped at 16 and Paul Lacombe added 10.
