The Los Angeles Clippers are interested in signing Los Angeles Lakers’ Rajon Rondo when free agency opens up in November, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

It’s no secret that the Clippers want to upgrade at point guard after Patrick Beverley battled injuries in the NBA restart and Reggie Jackson saw his playing time decrease in the Western Conference Semifinals against the Denver Nuggets.

The Lakers, however, are determined to re-sign the veteran Rondo who played a significant role in the team’s playoff run.

The 34-year-old averaged 8.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game in 16 playoff games.

Rondo has said he is planning to test the open market, which means declining his $2.7 million option for next season, Stein notes.
