The Boston Celtics are interested in acquiring RJ Hampton with one of their three first round selections in the 2020 NBA Draft, which it’s going to take place on November 18, per Chris Grenham of Forbes.

The former NBL guard had a good interview with the Celtics and the historic franchise is looking forward to having ‘an in-person workout with him in the near future’, according to Grenham.

Hampton spent the last season with the NBL’s New Zealand Breakers, opting to bypass the college route for the pro ranks. His transition from high-school basketball to the professional level was not smooth, but that was something to be expected.

One of the main issues of his game was shooting the ball inefficiently, as he averaged 8.7 points hitting 40% from the field and just 29.8% of his shots from the three-point area in 15 games with the Breakers.

However, he showed flashes of his athleticism and his speed during his stint in the NBL and that’s the reason many teams could be intrigued to take a look at the Dallas, Texas native.
