James Wiseman is expected to be one of the top prospects of the 2020 NBA Draft with the Charlotte Hornets having their sights set on the former Memphis center, per Charlotte Observer’s Rick Bonnell.

The North Carolina franchise holds the No.3 pick at its disposal and Wiseman is its primary target at the draft night. In particular, Charlotte “would consider trading up, if it would secure Wiseman”, as Bonnell noted.

Wiseman averaged 19.7 points and 10.7 rebounds in three games he played in Memphis, and he could address a great need for the Hornets at the center position, as he is a great shot-blocker and rebounder.

However, according to the report, Charlotte is working on a back-up plan, if they are not able to select Wiseman. This may be shooting guard Anthony Edwards, who averaged 19.1 points and 5.2 rebounds in his single college season with Georgia.

“One of those sources said he views Georgia guard Anthony Edwards as the Hornets’ backup plan if Wiseman isn’t available to Charlotte,” Bonnell noted.

The Hornets need to upgrade their young core to infuse talent in the roster and both Wiseman and Edwards could be able to address the franchise’s needs.
