Former Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson and Miami Heat assistant coach Dan Craig will join the Los Angeles Clippers coaching staff under Tyronn Lue.

The Clippers reportedly offered Craig more money and he hopes this becomes a pathway to becoming a head coach somewhere eventually, according to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald.

It was first reported last week that Atkinson and Craig were candidates for Lue’s staff.

Chauncey Billups, who is expected to be named the lead assistant on Lue’s staff, has formally interviewed with the Clippers, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

At the time Lue was hired, Billups was still a candidate for the Indiana Pacers head coaching job, but now that they have hired Nate Bjorkgren, Billups is set to complete his agreement with the Clippers.

The expectation in coaching circles is that Atkinson, Craig and Billups will finalize their deals to join the Clippers, notes Stein.

Larry Drew is also expected to be hired by the Clippers as an assistant coach.
