The Miami Heat are expected to show interest in signing forward Jerami Grant this offseason.

Grant, who has a player option for the upcoming campaign, is tipped to opt out of his contract with the Denver Nuggets and become a free agent. He is said to be a subject of interest for many teams following his performance in the playoffs last term.

The Heat are keen on retaining cap flexibility for the free-agent class of 2021 and are expected to pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo, yet they won’t forego an opportunity to strengthen their roster if one comes along. The report, which comes from the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, is a bit of a surprise considering the Heat are keen on keeping Jae Crowder, who plays a similar role. Crowder, though, is a free agent this season and two names have already come up in the way of potential replacement signings should he opt to leave.

Grant could become a choice option for Miami if that turns out to be the case. The forward would add height to the team’s frontcourt, something they sorely lacked during their Finals series against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Grant averaged 12 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game for the Nuggets last season.
