Jeff Van Gundy could reportedly add former Knicks’ coach in potential Rockets’ staff

Jeff Van Gundy is considered one of the finalists for the Houston Rockets’ head coaching job along with John Lucas and Paul Silas.

In case the Rockets select Van Gundy to become their new head coach, former New York Knicks interim head coach Mike Miller could resurface as an assistant on Van Gundy’s staff, per Marc Berman of NY Post.

Miller opted against remaining with the Knicks, after the franchise passed him for Tom Thibodeau. Berman suggests Miller didn’t choose to remain with the NY organization in hope of finding another coach gig.

The former Knicks’ interim coach has been Van Gundy’s assistant on Team USA’s World Cup qualifying teams. After taking over from David Fizdale, Miller led the Knicks to a 17-27 record before the season shut down on March 11.
