Nate Thurmond recorded the NBA’s first quadruple double on this date in 1974

Nate Thurmond made history in his first game with the Chicago Bulls. He recorded the first quadruple double in NBA history and led his Bulls to a 120-115 victory over the Atlanta Hawks.

Thurmond finished the game with 22 points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists and 12 blocks. He ended up averaging 7.9 points 11.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 2.4 blocks per game that season.

Remembering Nate Thurmond

While Thurmond only played 93 games with the Bulls, he will always be remembered for his spectacular game. He was 33 when he recorded the quadruple double.

To this day, Thurmond, Alvin Robertson, Hakeem Olajuwon and David Robinson are the only NBA players record a quadruple-double in an NBA game.
