Daryl Morey resigned from the Houston Rockets general manager job, after seven year as a GM and 15 as an executive in the franchise.

In an interview with local media, the Rockets’ owner Tilman Fertitta shared some thoughts on the former Houston executive, revealing where Morey would like to work next.

(via Tim MacMahon of ESPN):

“I’m going to miss Daryl. But I’m also going to pick up the phone and call his ass if I’m worried about doing something or not. If he ends up back in the league, I think that he’ll probably end up in the East Coast. That’s where he always told me he wanted to end up, so I think that he’ll tell me anything, because he knows that he won’t have to face me until the Finals.”

Morey showcased great team building abilities helping the Rockets become a contender and reach one game away from the NBA Finals.

The veteran NBA executive is more in the analytics side as a general manager. As a result, he created a unique philosophy around the three-point shot.

Morey will be replaced in Houston by previous No. 2 executive Rafael Stone, who appears likely to continue with Morey’s analytics-driven approach.
