Former Sacramento Kings and Memphis Grizzlies head coach Dave Joerger has agreed to join Doc Rivers’ staff with the Philadelphia 76ers as an assistant coach.

Rivers has begun building his coaching staff with the hiring of Joerger.

Joerger, 46, led the Grizzlies to a 147-99 regular season record and reached the playoffs in three consecutive years (2014-2016) with the team.

However, the Grizzlies lost in the first round in 2014 and 2016 and lost in the Western Conference Semifinals in 2015.

After the Grizzlies, his three-year tenure with the Kings wasn’t quite as successful, as he went 98-148 with the team with no playoff appearances.

Before being hired by the 76ers, the Indiana Pacers recently interviewed Joerger for their vacant head coach position.

It was first reported on Oct. 14 that Rivers was interested in adding Joerger to the 76ers’ staff.
