Donald Trump, the President of the United States, reacted to the drop of viewership of Game 6 of the NBA Finals. The season finale, which ended with LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers becoming the NBA champions, saw a 66% crash in viewership, according to Dylan Gwinn of Breitbart.

“Viewership for NBA Finals Finale Crash Nearly 70%, Beaten by Random Sunday Night Football Game,” Trump tweeted. “Maybe they were watching in China, but I doubt it. Zero interest!”

In 2019 when the Toronto Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors in the Finals 18.34 million viewers tuned it to watch Game 6. Meanwhile, Game 6, which featured LeBron James and the Lakers taking on the Miami Heat, drew only 6.028 million viewers.

A Sunday Night Football game to which Trump referred in his tweet was between the Vikings and the Seahawks. It saw twice as many people tuning in to watch at 12.008 million.

Many of the NBA’s biggest names, such as LeBron James, Steve Kerr, Gregg Popovich among other, are openly anti-Trump. While the league as such is not taking a political stance, the main faces of the league are clearly political.
