Anthony Davis averaged 25 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2 blocks, and 1.3 steals through 6 games against the Miami Heat. As the Lakers dispatched Miami 4-2 to win their 17th NBA Championship in the Orlando bubble.

Throughout the series, Davis appeared to be breaking record after record. It seemed every game he was placing his name among NBA greats. Let’s take a look at some of those records:

Davis was the 5th player in NBA history to record 30+ point outings in their first two career NBA Finals games. Joining Kevin Durant (2012), Michael Jordan (1991), Rick Barry (1967), and Hal Greer (1967). Via NBA Stats.

Anthony Davis and LeBron James became the first pair of Laker teammates to score 30+ points apiece in the NBA Finals since Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal in 2002. Via ESPN Stats Info.

Anthony Davis was the 5th player in the history of the finals to record 30 points and 10 rebounds, on 75% shooting. Joining Shaquille O’Neal (2004, x2), Kevin McHale (1985), Larry Bird (1984), and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (1971). Via ESPN Stats Info.

Anthony Davis joins just 5 players in NBA Finals history (min 20+ PPG) to shoot 50-40-90 or better. Joining Kevin Durant (2017, 2018), Chauncey Billups (2004), Penny Hardaway (2005), and Magic Johnson (1987). Via NBA Stats.

LeBron James (27.6) and Anthony Davis (27.7) are only the 2nd Lakers duo to win the NBA Finals while averaging over 25 points per game each in the postseason. The others; Kobe Bryant (26.8) and Shaquille O’Neal (36.3) in 2002.

Despite doubt following the Lakers sending over a haul of assets to secure Davis’ services, the 27-year-old superstar has certainly propelled himself among the NBA’s elite. Both in the present and throughout history.

Should he sign a new deal in Los Angeles, it’s only a matter of time until more records are broken.
