The New York Knicks are going to be active in the upcoming offseason to improve their roster via trades or the NBA draft.

According to Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic, new president of basketball operations Leon Rose will commit to improve the Knicks’ roster without giving up RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson.

(via Sportskeeda.com):

I’m going to start with these qualifiers for the Knicks: I think they will spend this offseason trying to get better in 2020-21; I don’t know how they do it; and my assumption is that no one but RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson is safe,” Vorkunov wrote in his latest piece.

In that case, it’s really difficult to imagine how the Knicks could pull off a blockbuster deal without their two most valuable assets involved.

Barrett was the No.3 overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, and, last season, he showed flashes of what the future holds for him in the NBA.

On the other hand, Mitchell Robinson was one of the most prominent shot blockers in the league, while he set the record for the highest field goal percentage in the history of the NBA shooting 74.2 percent from the field.

The Knicks will certainly try to improve their young core through the lottery, after another disappointing year last season, holding the No. 8 pick of the 2020 NBA Draft.
