Former Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson has interviewed for the Houston Rockets head coach vacancy, according to Alykhan Bijani and Kelly Iko of The Athletic.

Atkinson was first named as a possible candidate shortly after it was announced that Mike D’Antoni was parting ways with the Rockets.

Up to this point, it was only interest in Atkinson, so this is the first time he has met with the team.

The 53-year-old coach was an assistant with the New York Knicks from 2008-2012 and an assistant with the Atlanta Hawks from 2013-2016.

He then became the head coach of the Nets for three-and-a-half seasons before being let go in March after 62 games this season.

Atkinson compiled a record of 118-190 in those three-plus years.

The Rockets are also looking at other potential candidates including John Lucas, Tyronn Lue (who has an interview scheduled for this week), Minnesota Timberwolves assistant David Vanterpool, Los Angeles Clippers assistant Sam Cassell and Jeff Van Gundy.
