Tyronn Lue has met with the Los Angeles Clippers and New Orleans Pelicans about their head coaching vacancies.

Lue also has an interview for the Houston Rockets’ coaching vacancy that will take place this week after it was moved from the weekend, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

Lue’s connections to the Clippers, having been an assistant on the team’s staff, make him a strong contender to replace Doc Rivers.

He also has a history with Pelicans vice president of Basketball Operations David Griffin.

When Griffin was general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers, he hired Lue as an assistant and eventually promoted him to head coach after David Blatt was fired in 2016.

The 43-year-old coach was previously linked to the Philadelphia 76ers’ job before they hired Rivers.
