Masai Ujiri is going to attract a huge amount of interest, if he becomes available to hire next season. The president of the Toronto Raptors could become a ‘free agent’ next summer.

The chairman of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, Larry Tanenbaum, vows to not let that happen, Doug Smith of the Toronto Star reports.

“We have time and we’re going to work through the process in the right time and the right way, I know that for sure,” Tanenbaum said on an interview. “He’s so incredibly caring and he’s an important person for the world to understand. It’s not only the Raptors.”

The Raptors extended coach Nick Nurse’s contract after Toronto was eliminated from the postseason. They’re also close to an extension agreement with GM Bobby Webster, who is also under contract through next season.

“Masai is getting it done (with Nurse and Webster) and we, too, will get it done,” Tanenbaum added.
