De Colo out of FIBA World Cup for France

France have been dealt a blow for their World Cup preparation as CSKA Moscow guard Nando De Colo will miss the tournament with a fractured hand.

De Colo, who played for the San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors last season suffered the injury during France’s World Cup tune-up against Ukraine last night, where they lost 63-56.

The French Federation [FFBB] announced later on that De Colo would not participate in this year’s World Cup, and that they would announce a replacement shortly.

“This is a real blow,” De Colo said. “I am terribly disappointed not to participate in this competition. I felt great and I had to heart to meet the new challenges of Team France.”

France will be in Group A of the World Cup, which starts in two weeks. They will be alongside hosts Spain, Serbia, Brazil, Iran and Egypt.
