New Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan is impressed with the front office, according to Darnell Mayberry of The Athletic. The Chicago Bulls are a first-class franchise. Chicago is the third-largest city in the country. To get the team where they need to be, they have acquired Donovan, who is coming off a bad tenure with the Thunder.

The Chicago Bulls are giving Donovan a second chance at being a head coach and he is taking the opportunity in stride. Donovan is learning the ins and outs of the organization. Hopefully, this signing is the start of the revitalization of the Chicago Bulls franchise.

Here’s the report on Billy Donovan from The Athletic:

According to one person with knowledge of the negotiations, Donovan came away impressed as much with [Arturas] Karnišovas and new general manager Marc Eversley as he was with the job they were selling him.

The Chicago Bulls have had problems with Zach LaVine and the coaching staff. Billy Donovan has impressed with his ability to relate to players. He has coached Joakim Noah and Russell Westbrook. Those are two players that are tough to handle and Donovan was able to lead one to a National Championship and another to an MVP award.

Will either one happen for LaVine? Former Thunder player Kevin Durant thinks so. Donovan was Durant’s coach for one year at OKC. LaVine is another slim and tough to guard player. The head coaching prowess of Billy Donovan should be an exciting draw for LaVine next year.

Zach LaVine seems at times to not love to play but a fun coach like Billy Donovan should reinvigorate LaVine’s thirst for competition. LaVine’s trust in the front office may be shattered, but Billy Donovan should repair everything.
