Dimitris Giannakopoulos is the major shareholder of Panathinaikos OPAP, having the 89.9% of the club’s shares, as announced by the Greek professional sports committee. Manos Papadopoulos, who was previously in control of the shares, left the club and moved to Zenit St. Petersburg. With this in mind, it was impossible for him to still be the major shareholder of Panathinaikos OPAP.

Three months after Dimitris’ Giannakopoulos resignation from Panathinaikos and his announcement that the club is on sale, the former president of the club returns with the 89,9% of the club’s shares.
