The Chicago Bulls are finally closing in on a concluding list of head coaches, after contacting interviews with several candidates.

According to what Shams Charania’s latest report suggests, Denver Nuggets assistant Wes Unseld Jr., Philadelphia 76ers assistant Ime Udoka, Milwaukee Bucks assistant Darvin Ham and former Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson have had strong interviews(via Forbes).

Ime Udoka was reportedly the favorite at the start of the Bulls’ front office process to find a replacement for Jim Boylen, but Wes Unseld Jr. seems to be gaining momentum due to the Nuggets’ incredible postseason run.

The Denver Nuggets’ head coach Michael Malone said on Tuesday that Unseld Jr. should be an NBA head coach.

“Wes Unseld should be a head coach”,Malone said, per NBC Sport, after the Game 7 win versus the Los Angeles Clippers.

“He manages our defense. I trust Wes to do his job. Our defense in the last three games has been phenomenal. To hold that team to 33 points in the second half? I think last game they scored 35 in the second half. Against the highest-rated offense in the first round of the playoffs? That’s unheard of.”

New Bulls executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas also has experience working with Unseld after coming over from Denver a few months back.
