Adem Bona, a 6-foot-10, 17-year-old Nigerian/Turkish big man, will spend the next two seasons in the U.S. at Prolific Prep in California.
Bona is one of the most promising international prospects in Europe regardless of class, according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.
He has represented Turkey four times at the FIBA level in 2018 and 2019:
- 2018 U17 FIBA World Cup – 1.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.4 blocks per game
- 2018 U16 European Championship – 2.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.3 blocks per game
- 2019 U18 European Championship – 4.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.7 blocks per game
- 2019 U16 European Championship – 14.1 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.0 blocks per game (second in rebounds and blocks, named to All-Tournament team)
Bona will become NBA Draft-eligible in 2023 when he’s a year removed from his high school graduating class.
He could consider following Prolific Prep alum Jalen Green at the G League Ignite team, or he could choose to return to Europe, Givony notes.
Bona spent this past season with Pinar Karsiyaka of the Turkish Basketball Super League and reportedly was close to a deal with Mega Bemax before ultimately choosing to come to the U.S.
