U17 World Cup in Dubai – Quarter-Finals Review

USA – China

Team USA keeps destroying all teams along their way. They are decided to keep their, so far, perfect record in the tournament. This time China could not barely resist one quarter. By the end of initial 10 minutes, the score was already 30-11. From there, the gap did nothing but increase, up to the final 113-71. Ellenson scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, proving that this team is full of good players and does not need to rely in any particular star. Fu scored 16 for China in the losing effort.

Canada – Serbia

One of the best games in the championship so far. Serbia managed to win a real thriller against Canada in a game which was decided in the last quarter, when the European side got a 19-9 score. Marinkovic and Peno led Serbia. Combo guard Jamal Murray scored 24 for Canada, but was very alone on offense.

Australia – Puerto Rico

Easy victory 76-52 for Australia against Puerto Rico. The Aussie team seems to be recovered from the defeat a couple of days ago against Canada. Vasiljevic is once again leading the team with 21 points and 13 rebounds, an amazing number for a guard, while Humphries is confirming that he may be the best center in the tournament.

France – Spain

Wow, what a game… France overcame a 13-point gap to lead by one, thanks to a great job by Gombauld and a very effective zone defense, but Garcia and Pérez were there to give the win to Spain by 67-71. An amazing basketball game played between two teams which did not seem to be u17 at all.

The Semi-Finals will be played entirely tomorrow, as follows:

USA – Serbia

Australia – Spain
