Houston Rockets get Papanikolaou

The Greek colony in the NBA grows bigger since this morning the Houston Rockets announced that Kostas Papanikolaou will continue his career to the other side of the Atlantic for the next season, while there is an option for a one-year renewal.

His first year will give the Greek international around $4.8million with the second year worth $4.6million.

Papanikolaou was selected with the 48th pick back in 2012 by the New York Knicks but decided to stay with Olympiacos where he won back-to-back Euroleague titles.

The 24-year-old then left for Barcelona in 2013 and in the Catalan capital, he won the Liga Endesa title and steered them to a third place finish in the Euroleague Final Four.

In Houston, Papanikolaou will cross paths yet again with Joe Dorsey, after their spells with Olympiacos and Barcelona, the guard also becomes the second Greek player to play for the team after Vassilis Spanoulis and the fourth that will play for in the NBA next season next to Kostas Koufos, Nick Calathes and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
