The Los Angeles Lakers progressed to the second round of the playoffs after winning the first-round series 4-1 against the Damian Lillard-less Portland Trail Blazers. LeBron James and Anthony Davis combined for 79 points as the Lakers defeated the Blazers 131-122 in Game 5.

After the game, the Lakers’ head coach Frank Vogel shared his thoughts on James’ and Davis’ performances. “Two of the best players in the game rising to the challenge in a close-out game. Both delivering special performances. Obviously, we don’t win the game without them doing what they did tonight,” he said.

Vogel also assessed his team’s defense. “I was very impressed with how we committed to the defensive end the first four games. This team has posted an offensive record of 124 which would be the best offensive record in the history of the game. For the first for games our defense has been as sharp as it’s been all year,” he said.
